Replacement Screen for Snabe Quarry

08 Dec 2022

Hewitt Robins Inclined Screen supplied to Tarmac Snabe Quarry.

Hewitt Robins has recently designed, manufactured, and commissioned a replacement, made-to-measure screen for Tarmac Snabe Quarry.

Tarmac Snabe, which is located south of Glasgow, supplies high-quality aggregates to customers in the Darvel area and delivers aggregates for projects of all sizes.

The site was experiencing issues with a screen, which was in need of replacement. Hewitt Robins visited the site to measure up their existing screen and designed a made-to-measure 2m wide x 7m long Double Deck Inclined Screen that would fit into the installation.

The Hewitt Robins screen came complete with an oil-lubricated vibrator unit, feedbox with liners, discharge lips with liners, v belt drive, vibrator pulleys, motor pulleys, 18.5kw drive motor, pivoting motor base, support springs, spring protection, spring base plates, rubber crossmember protection, spray bars and P.U nozzles. The screen also came complete with a replacement Tema Isenmann WS85 polyurethane modular system.

The screen was turned around within eight weeks from the date of order, and the installation was carried out by Allenshaw Engineering.

Derek Kyle, Quarry Manager, commented, ‘’We had an ailing screen where the screen kept cracking up, and the bearings were regularly failing. It was imperative that we had a new screen to fit the existing structure with minimal changes and be more robust than the original screen. We were aware that Hewitt Robins are the market leader for customised replacement screens, and it was clear to us that Hewitt Robins could, and had been involved in, many successful previous projects all over the world, hence our decision to award them the project. The new screen has been running for a few weeks now and is handling around 150tph washing at 25mm top deck and 6mm bottom deck’’

Dan Stevenson, Hewitt Robins Sales Director, commented, ‘’Following an on-site survey by our design engineers, a new screen was designed, manufactured, and installed within a short timescale due to the issues with the current screen. We managed to move our production around to supply this screen quickly, and it has been a very successful project from start to finish. This is another project which highlights Hewitt Robins' knowledge, flexibility and ability to respond to our customers' problems. We continue to be the number one vibrating equipment supplier in Europe, and long may it continue.’’
