Hewitt Robins has recently supplied a replacement horizontal screen to one of Ireland’s premium sand and gravel sites.
Inish Pebble Co. Ltd, the main supplier of specialised silica sands in Ireland, is located in County Wexford. They produce a wide range of industrial sands, decorative stone, and pebble for customers across Ireland, the UK, and mainland Europe. The harsh saltwater environment has taken its toll on conventional screening units, which usually last only a short 7-year period.
Hewitt Robins was awarded the contract to replace an American brand, 6’ x 20’ triple-shafted horizontal screen with a two-shafted, overhead unit horizontal screen. The Hewitt Robins 6’ x 24’ screen was designed to fit into the existing installation with minimal modifications and produces six grades of washed products from 2mm up to 70mm.
The screen is fitted with an overhead vibrator unit to allow more access between the decks and to make any maintenance to the screen box easier. As the LPE-14 6 x 24 Hewitt Robins screen is installed in a very tough environment, it comes complete with polyurethane modular media, rubber cross-member protection, a 3-layer marine paint specification, and a rubber-lined feed box and discharge lips.
The screen was supplied by CSS (Crushing & Screening Services Ltd.), the sole distributor of Hewitt Robins equipment in Ireland, and has been recently installed and commissioned. The screen is already outperforming the previous triple-shafted machine and should continue to do so for many years to come.
